High School Team — Lake Effect Figure Skating Club

West Michigan United Figure Skating Team

This high school skating team is a part of US Figure Skating’s High School Competition Series. There are currently three different skating levels at which each skater can skate, all skating levels and abilities are welcome! During competition, the skater will perform an element for the team either in jumps, moves in the field, or spins. Skaters can represent their high school or a combination of several area schools. West Michigan United is currently made up of seven different high schools in the Grand Rapids area.

About the season

There are three district competitions and then the state competition. Our season runs from November through the end of March. Our competition dates for the 2024-25 season are not out yet, but a relative idea is as follows. District competitions are at the beginning of December, one towards the end of January, and one in the beginning of February. The state competition is in March. This past season we traveled to Kalamazoo, Alpena, Mount Pleasant, and Southfield Ice Arenas for competitions.
